Since 2001 Joyce & John Pipkin have been actively involved in coordinating outreach ministries to God's people in Haiti.
Joyce Pipkin is a member of Saint Mary's Episcopal Church in Columbia, SC. She leads three mission trips to Haiti each year, coordinating a variety of projects and primarily visiting partner church communities in and around Les Cayes in the southwest section of the country.
Our ministries in Haiti include the Haiti Children's Education Fund which supports a tuition assistance program for some of the children and young adult members of St. Sauveur Episcopal Church in Les Cayes and partially funds the operating budget of St. Esprit School in the remote countryside outside of Cavaillon, Haiti. Since its establishment, and by the grace of God, the sponsorship program has grown from 20 students in 1998 to over 330 students for the 2011-2012 school year.
We are now partnering with Education = Hope, a nationally chartered 501c(3) organization, which enables us to accept online donations. For additional details about this program and how you can help with prayer and/or support , please go to www.educationequalshope.org
Checks may be made by check payable to "EDUCATION = HOPE" with a note in the MEMO section "HAITI SCHOLARSHIP FUND" - mail to E=H, 100 Main Street, Fort Mill, SC 29715. ALL donations directly benefit the students of our mission in Haiti.
Past mission trip projects have included
- a summer VBS program that reaches over 400 children, youth and adults,
- health education initiatives,
- business and leadership development workshops,
- English language workshops,
- organization of prayer partnerships and working with the clergy to expand of The Order of the Daughters of the King and The Brotherhood of St. Andrew throughout Haiti.
Please go to the "Contact Us" page if you are interested in joining one of our 3 annual mission trips. Ideas for future projects are always welcome. No specific talents required...just a willing heart, LOVE of children and lots of flexibility!
John Pipkin is also a member of Saint Mary's and is now a retired pilot with over 40 years of flying experience. He travels to Haiti at least three times each year as well where he participates in the work of Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) as a volunteer pilot assisting their full-time on-site missionary staff in Port-au-Prince. John was actively involved with MAF's relief and recovery efforts after the 2010 earthquake and widespread cholera outbreaks in Haiti.
MAF is an international mission organization that operates aircraft within Haiti providing valuable support to those living and working in remote locations throughout the country, as well as safe transport to those in need of medical care, mission teams or other emergency assistance who are otherwise difficult to reach. Please visit MAF's website at www.maf.org for more information on their worldwide ministries and ongoing work in Haiti.
We welcome the opportunity to share the blessings of the ministries that God has led us to in Haiti and the thank Him for the joyful, faithful spirit of the Haitian people. Future mission trips are in the planning stages to identify and serve the needs of the Haitian people in the aftermath of the earthquake. During each trip we are given the opportunity to share God's gift of abundant love with them.
PLEASE PRAY FOR:
- the love of God and light of Christ to continue to spread throughout Haiti. ><>
- the clergy and missionaries who serve tirelessly to minister to the Haitian people on a daily basis. ><>
- the Haitian people, especially the orphans. ><>
